AhlulBayt News Agency - On the second day of the 7-day program set by the International Media of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the UK-based Integrity Association, the delegation of Europe’s top Sunni clerics visited the holy city of Najaf, where they were honored to visit the resting placing of the Commander of the Faithful as well as two of the four Grand Shia scholars.
The Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi stated during his meeting with the delegation at his office, “Our Sunni brothers have numerous chairs in the Iraqi parliament, including the highest authority (the President), and that goes to say about the equality of all various sects stated clearly in the Iraqi constitution,” calling on the visiting delegation to “take firm stance against terrorism that aims to differentiate between Muslims.”
The notable delegation then headed to the office of the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Saeed al-Hakeem, where his eminence stressed on “The necessity of uniting and confronting this Takfiri ideology as they are deforming the true Islamic image.”
Al-Hakeem referred to the 2003 statement from the offices of Supreme Religious Authorities in Najaf that call for unity and combating terrorism regardless of tribe or sect.
From his part, the head of the delegation and Chairman of Ramadan Foundation in the UK Sheikh Muhammad Omar ibn Ramadan said, “We are followers and lovers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and ISIS and every other terrorist organization does not represent the Sunni sect of Islam, we describe them as the Khawarij (Rebels) of this era. Our visit to Iraq was to discover the reality of what is happening and, praise be to Allah, we were warmly welcomed by loving and respectable people and there is complete safety in Karbala, Najaf and the other cities we visited.”
Ramadan asserted that, “The Shias and Sunnis are brothers from one religion and they have lived together peacefully for over 14 centuries. We will not allow terrorist criminals to separate them.”
The delegation expressed their gratitude for the kind hospitality of the Supreme Religious Authority offices.
